Each year the professional education committee at Linden Oaks works hard to deliver you the very best in behavioral health science, cutting edge therapies, and presentations from well-known authors. Here's a look at what's in store:
This year Claudia Black, whose work greatly impacted the world of addiction treatment, joins us for Recovery Day, Sept. 14. This will be a great opportunity for you to network with professionals from around the state and Midwest region.
Dr. Jo Ann Wright will speak about the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for treatment of anxiety disorders.
In January our self-injury team will address therapeutic techniques helpful for clients who may be tenuous in their commitment to healthy choices.
Information on social media, bipolar disorder, and mindful eating will also be provided this seminar year. We know you will enjoy hearing Rob Bender, LCSW, CADC, one of our loyal allied professional team members, teach about engaging even the most difficult clients.
We are proud to bring you Dr. Murali Doriswamy who, as author of the Alzheimer’s Action Plan, has made such a difference in the field of geriatrics. We were so blessed to have him speak last year – and your calls and program evaluations encouraged us to bring him back!
Alfie Kohn is well known in the field of education. His seminal work on reward and punishment with children and adolescents is truly eye opening. Don’t miss his presentation on coaching your clients in unconditional parenting.
Make sure to attend our SOS: Depression & Suicide among Adolescents program and receive lots of ideas for helping the lay person make clear identifications of friends/family in need of help. Our Legal Series on mental health ethics will enlighten as well.
Finally, please attend the premiere of Someday Melissa – a film about the tragedy of eating disorders. The new guidebook for use with client groups will be explored. Following the movie you will be able to attend our new Outpatient Center Open House, meeting our clinical team and enjoying a tour and some treats before you start your weekend.
Thank you, as always, for your support of Linden Oaks at Edward education seminars and your trust in our award-winning programs as you refer your clients to alternate levels of treatment.
See you on Recovery Day!
