Ronald McDonald Family Room serves as a haven of respite and hospitality to families whose children are in treatment in Edward Hospital. The Family Room is a home-like atmosphere away from the stress of the hospital, allowing families a moment to rest and rejuvenate, so that they can face the stress of the hospital visit with renewed energy.
Our Ronald McDonald Family Room includes a playroom for patients and siblings, a television area, two computer stations and a sitting area. There is also a kitchenette with donated snacks and quick single serving meals for families. Restaurants and donors cater meals multiple times a week. Check the Family Room for the weekly calendar.
Families of children 18 years of age and younger whose child is in treatment in Edward Hospital are eligible to visit the Family Room. Under normal circumstances, up to three family members per patient are allowed. All children under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times by a parent or authorized adult.
Our Family Room is located in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Follow signs for the Family Room from the South Lobby of Edward Hospital to the Peds/PICU door where you will need to ring the buzzer in order to enter the unit.
Families do not need a referral - so stop by for a visit! You will need to state your child’s name and room number. For the safety of all families, anyone recently exposed to a contagious illness, or who is currently ill, will not be allowed in the Family Room.In order for a family of a pediatric patient on isolation to use the Family Room, all family members must abide by hospital precautions at all times while in the patient’s room.
There are two Sleep Rooms with private bathrooms for families of patients with the most critical conditions, allowing the family to get much needed rest without even leaving the hospital. For families that would like to freshen up, there is a restroom and shower in which toiletries and towels are provided.
