ProActive Kids (PAK) Foundation has joined forces with Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Healthcare to help tackle the community's childhood obesity challenge. ProActive Kids is a free program for kids ages 8-14 who struggle with unhealthy weight. This unique, results-oriented free program is held at the Edward Health & Fitness Center (EHFC) at Seven Bridges, located at 6600 S. Route 53 in Woodridge.

The fall session of ProActive Kids (PAK) starts September 15, 2014 at Edward Health & Fitness Center, in Woodridge. To enroll, call 630-681-1558 or visit http://www.proactivekids.org/ to learn more. A referral from the child's primary care physician is required.

In the program, ProActive Kids are engaged in a variety of PAK PLAN activities Monday, Wednesday and Friday for eight weeks: PAK Fitness, PAK Nutrition and PAK Lifestyle. Each educational lesson and fitness activity is designed to make a significant impact, while building a foundation for life-long success in the areas of fitness, personal health and self-esteem. On Fridays, members of the child's family participate in the activities and learn how they can also benefit from and support lifestyle changes. The PAK's holistic approach is crucial to the success of its participants and supports family engagement as a critical element for long-term success.

Headquartered in Wheaton, the PAK program is teaming with organizations like Edward and Elmhurst Memorial to execute its mission of reversing the obesity trend, one community at a time. ProActive Kids and Edward are also active coalition partners in FORWARD (Fighting Obesity, Reaching Healthy Weight Among Residents of DuPage), a DuPage County leadership collaborative whose goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of children and families in DuPage County.
