Pediatric physical therapists work with children and their families to assist each child in reaching their maximum potential so they can function independently and to promote active participation in home, school, and their community environment.*
Parents are encouraged to be involved in their child's therapy as much as it helps the session move forward and to promote carry over for home practice. Children are resilient and bounce back from injury but often in the easiest way possible therefore possibly avoiding using the body part which needs the most practice and use.
Infants are learning skills for the first time so it is important to assist them into motor patterns that they can build upon for smooth movement as their bodies grow.
Some conditions we treat include:
- Orthopedic conditions
- Syndromes such as Down Syndrome, CP, JIA
- Developmental abnormalities
- Gait Difficulties
- Difficulties due to Prematurity
