Heart Nurse Line
As much as we like to see you, we'd much rather have you healthy and out of the hospital. The good news is most heart disease can be prevented with simple lifestyle changes. And we can help you control your blood pressure and cholesterol, reduce stress, eat better, get moving and stop smoking. Because even though we can do wonders to fix your heart, prevention is still the best medicine.
Lifestyle Under Construction
If you carry excess fat mainly around your belly, you could have metabolic syndrome, which increases your risk for heart disease, stroke and diabetes. This medically-supervised wellness program will give you the tools you need to change the way you think about food and exercise. Each week for 12 weeks you'll get advice from a dietitian, exercise physiologist, clinical psychologist and cardiac nurse. With some help from these experts, you can:
- Lose 5 to 7 percent of your body weight - and keep it off
- Improve your blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels
- Learn to select and prepare foods that are good for your waistline and your heart
- Make exercise a habit in your daily routine
Your primary care physician can be informed of your progress at three months and six months
