Finding the Right Gym for You

Choosing a gym for indoor exercise

At this time of year Mother Nature can make exercising outdoors a challenge. One solution is joining a gym. Lara Aprati, Edward Health & Fitness Centers membership manager, advises you to consider the following when selecting a gym:

1. Decide what you want from exercise. Do you want to improve your endurance, strength and flexibility — or have several activities at your disposal so you don't get bored?

2. Choose a gym that's convenient to your home or work so you don't have excuses to avoid it.

3. Investigate how the gym's professionals are certified.Is there enough equipment? Is it well maintained?

4. Visit during peak hours and see what the equipment looks like. Find out the hours and amenities.
