Please note new visitor restriction as of September 11, 2014.
Public Health authorities have reported a multi-state outbreak of respiratory disease among children caused by Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68). Edward and Elmhurst Hospitals are currently experiencing an increase in Pediatric inpatient admissions and Pediatric ED visits over the past several weeks that may be related to this outbreak. In response, and in order to help protect the health of Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare patients and the community, Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and Linden Oaks at Edward will implement the following visitor restrictions effective Thursday, September 11, 2014, until further notice:
--No Visitors under age 18 are allowed to visit hospitalized patients
--No Visitors (of any age) with cold or flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, wheezing, fever)
Representatives from Edward and Elmhurst Memorial are working closely with Public Health officials to better understand this evolving situation. For more information on Enterovirus D68, visit www.cdc.gov/non-polio-enterovirus/about/ev-d68.html and www.idph.state.il.us/health/infect/enterovirus_D68.htm.
