Edward Hospital is rated by consumers as the No. 1 hospital for overall quality in Chicago's southwest and west suburbs, according to a 2010 survey by the National Research Corporation, the industry leader in health care performance measurement and improvement.
Survey results show that Edward is also rated the hospital most preferred for all health needs by Will County residents.
Edward was rated highest in the region by a nearly 3-1 margin in the following areas:
--Most preferred for all health needs
--Best overall quality
The NRC survey results, along with numerous other quality and performances measures, can be found at www.edward.org/nrc - part of the "How We Perform" section of Edward's website (www.edward.org/howweperform). "How We Perform" is one way Edward makes information available so people can make informed health care choices. Users can learn about Edward's performance in five key areas: how patients rank the hospital, quality scorecards, how they keep you safe, volumes and awards/recognition.
In addition, Edward is the region's most preferred hospital for every key service line, including heart, cancer, neurology, emergency, maternity/OB and inpatient care.
NRC's 2010 survey covered a statistically significant sample (700-plus individuals) from Edward's total service area, which includes Naperville, Aurora, Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Homer Glen, Joliet, Lemont, Lisle, Lockport, Minooka, Oswego, Plainfield, Romeoville, Shorewood, Warrenville, Wheaton, Woodridge and Yorkville.
