Weight Loss Challenge Participants Lose 1,144 pounds 04/15/2014 Edward recently completed its third annual Community Weight Loss Challenge. Each year participants in the challenge have exceeded their previous weight loss totals. This year 169 participants lost 1,144 pounds, an average of nearly seven pounds each, with some individuals losing over 25 pounds during the 8-week challenge. Edward employees also participated in their own version of the challenge, losing 1,170 pounds this year.
"I did the weight loss challenge for one reason: Me. I needed to lose weight in order to be healthy, to feel good about myself, and to live easier," said Scott Easton, Fitness Specialist at EHFC Seven Bridges and individual challenge winner. "The challenge inspired me and losing the weight was better than any prize I could win. Now I intend to keep going and keep healthy."
The weight loss challenge is just one of several health-related challenges offered by Edward throughout the year to provide education and support for maintaining healthy lifestyle habits. Beginning on May 5, community members will have the opportunity to earn points and prizes for getting active with the Spring Activity Challenge. A wide variety of activities can be tracked throughout the 6-week challenge, including walking, biking, gardening, swimming, and any type of fitness class or sports participation.
