Just because the weather has taken a turn doesn’t mean that your workouts have to. Melanie Kirschten, Fitness Specialist at Edward Health & Fitness Centers shares a few winter training tips to enhance your performance throughout the year.
1. Get a fresh perspective
Try tai chi, racquetball, or Zumba to add a twist to your routine. Hire a personal trainer for a fresh prospective on your workout.
2. Work the ‘Core’
Many activities use your abdominals and lower back but do nothing to strengthen these muscles. Our core stabilizes our upper body, and with a weak core our performance suffers.
3. Change it up
Try new exercises. If you have a hiking trip planned for the spring, cardiovascular exercise should the foundation of your workout, but tryout swimming or a spin class rather than jumping on the treadmill.
