Standing out in a crowd 10/17/2012 From innovative programming to a large variety of equipment, highly trained specialists and spa services, the Edward Health & Fitness Centers stand out from the crowd as leaders in the fitness industry.
“I like to call us a premier fitness center,” says Carol Teteak, Fitness Coordinator at EHFC-Seven Bridges. “We see a need to grow and change and keep up with fitness trends - and we roll with it.”
Continuing education is one way that EHFC shines as a leader in a highly competitive market.
Currently, EHFC-Seven Bridges is the Midwest host site for Rolf Gates’ Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training workshop. Once a month, for nine months, the nationally acclaimed yoga master travels from his home state of California to offer his intensive 200-hour teacher training course. Yoga instructors from all over the region are participating in this intensive yoga experience at EHFC-Seven Bridges.
Also this year, EHFC-Seven Bridges has twice served as the host site for the Cancer Exercise Institute Specialist Workshop, and is planning to host future sessions. Once again in 2013, the Woodridge location will host the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Illinois State Personal Training Clinic, featuring James DiNaso.
Besides the visibility of hosting such high profile programs, Edward’s staff attends the trainings for continuing education.
“As a hospital-based facility, we place more emphasis on the quality and level of our instructors and trainers. We’re invested in hiring the best people and giving the staff the continuing education they need to stay fresh,” says Teteak.
Another way that Edward leads the industry is through the variety of fitness equipment and innovative programming it offers.
“You can’t find this variety at a regular gym. We want our trainers and members to have the latest and greatest in choice,” says Teteak.
Both locations offer a large selection of fitness equipment, including the most-up-to-date options for trainers and members. Every week, hundreds of group exercise classes are available throughout the day for mind body, cross training, and special need populations including Parkinson’s disease, athritis, cancer, diabetes and even golf conditioning. The Spa offers many different services to offer a well-rounded experience for members.
Unlike other fitness centers, EHFC has a reputation for longevity of staff. Most supervisors have been on staff for at least ten years and many of the trainers for five, according to Teteak. She believes the continuing education and personal interaction are key factors for creating an environment conducive to keeping a stable and consistent staff.
“We feed off of each other’s energy. As supervisors, we are dedicated to making this fitness center the best place possible. Members like knowing that the management and personnel are a staple of the center,” Teteak explains.
We love our members
Above all, Teteak points to the members as being an overriding factor in Edward’s success story.
“Simply stated, we have the best members. They are so diverse in ages and backgrounds. We have something for everyone. Our members challenge us, and as an organization, we deliver.”
