Improve your health in 30 minutes 03/24/2011 No time to exercise? Think again. Daily exercise, even brief workouts, can help you to live a longer, healthier life.
Exercising for just 30 minutes a day, five times a week, can maintain your health, improve your fitness level and reduce your risk of chronic diseases, including heart disease, according to guidelines established by the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association.
“There are so many benefits to exercising every day. People think they need a lot of time to work out but thirty minutes can get the job done,” says Connie Truesdale, a personal trainer at EHFC.
Besides squeezing into your favorite pair of jeans, there are many other benefits of daily exercise:
Relieving stress
Improving your mood
Stimulating endorphins and other chemicals in your brain
Preventing high cholesterol, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, and other chronic conditions
Boosting metabolism and energy levels
Promoting better sleep
Express workouts at EHFC
From strength training to Pilates and Tonga, EHFC offers Express fitness programming to give you a complete workout in just 30 minutes. The classes offer a focused workout to elevate your heart rate and burn calories.
“Express workouts fit into any type of schedule. You’re in and out of the gym, with a complete and productive workout in less than one hour,” says Truesdale.
Each class is based on personal effort. The intensity level in an express class might be higher than a longer fitness class in order to get your heart rate up. You might be encouraged to use heavier weights because fewer repetitions will be done.
Express classes are also beneficial for members who are just getting back into exercise or older adults who might experience fatigue from a 60 minute class.
