3D mammography (tomosynthesis) Edward is one of the few centers in the western suburbs to offer 3D mammography – the latest technology in detecting breast cancer. 3D mammography helps radiologists identify and characterize individual breast structures without the confusion of overlapping tissue.

During a 3D mammogram, multiple, low-dose images of the breast are acquired at different angles. These images are then used to produce a series of one-millimeter thick slices that can be viewed as a 3D reconstruction of the breast. View this video on 3D mammography to learn more.
Diagnostic Procedures 3D mammography, Digital mammography, ultrasound, and stereotactic breast biopsies are offered in the Women's Imaging Suite at Edward. This dedicated, outpatient diagnostic area was created to provide a private, just-for-women environment. The suite features the latest in imaging technology.
Treatment Treatment needs for breast conditions vary from woman to woman. The latest treatment options are available at Edward, including minimally invasive biopsy and surgery, hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, radiation, reconstructive surgery, and rehabilitation. Learn about our chemotherapy group education class.
Coping and support We believe treating cancer means treating the whole person. That's why we offer the most cancer support programs and complementary therapies than any cancer center in the region. We even offer programs for caregivers and children of cancer patients. In addition, our Plainfield Cancer Center has an American Cancer Society Wig Boutique.
Early Detection There are three steps to breast health: a monthly breast self-exam, annual clinical breast exam, and routine mammography. Practicing all three will help you detect breast cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage. The Breast Aware assessment takes about five minutes and provide a quick response about your health as well as action steps if you are identified as being at risk. Take the test today.
