What is an assessment?
Just like with any other illness, the first step to feeling better is to identify the problem. With every patient, our first step is to complete an assessment of your symptoms so we can get a better understanding of your needs. The information that we collect helps us to get started with recommending a treatment plan that is best for you. The assessment is conducted by one of our counselors, who has special training and is ready to respond to emergency situations.
Assessments are free and can be conducted in person at Linden Oaks Hospital in Naperville or Plainfield. Please note that if you walk in for an assessment, there may be a short wait. We are here to help you as soon as possible. You may also call our Help Line 24/7, (630) 305-5500.
How treatment decisions are made
Following the initial assessment, a licensed resource and referral counselor will meet with you for a more detailed screening. This step helps to further pinpoint depression, anxiety, mood or other disorder by asking more questions and conducting a more detailed discussion. Screenings are free of charge and strictly confidential. The counselor will determine a treatment plan in conjunction with a psychiatrist and when appropriate, we will also provide information to the patient's primary care physician if requested.
