CPR/Advanced Life Support

Advanced Life Support (ACLS/PALS) Courses

ACLS Prep Course: This course is a pre-course option for ACLS students and is strongly recommended for anyone taking ACLS for the first time. To be successful in any ACLS course, students should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course. This class will cover adult ECG & Pharmacology and addresses a key knowledge gap by focusing on ECG recognition skills and drug treatment knowledge.

This course is strongly recommended if this is your first time taking ACLS.

ACLS Certification

The American Heart Association ACLS Course is designed for experienced healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses and paramedics who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. This course builds on BLS skills and covers team communication, systems of care, airway management and related pharmacology. Students must demonstrate skills competency at all stations and complete the written exam with a minimum score of 84% in order to receive an ACLS course completion card valid for two years. 8.5 contact hours of continuing nursing education are available.

ACLS RecertificationYou must hold a current ACLS Provider certification in order to take this class.

The American Heart Association ACLS Recertification Course is designed for those who hold a current certification in ACLS. This course builds on BLS skills and covers team communication, systems of care, airway management and related pharmacology. Students must demonstrate skills competency at all stations and complete the written exam with a score minimum of 84% in order to receive an ACLS course completion card valid for two years.  5.25 contact hours of continuing nursing education are available.

PALS Certification: The American Heart Association PALS course is designed for experienced Pediatric Healthcare professionals such as physicians, nurses and paramedics who either direct or participate in the management of seriously ill or injured pediatric patients and pediatric emergencies. Skills taught include recognition and treatment of infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest; the systematic approach to pediatric assessment; effective respiratory management; defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion, intraosseous access and fluid bolus administration; and effective resuscitation team dynamics. Students must demonstrate skills competency in all stations and complete the written exam with a minimum score of 84% in order to receive a PALS course completion card valid for two years.
