"Communication is at the heart of child development, be it cognitive, social, emotional or behavioral." L.S. Vygotsky
"Eating is the most complex physical task that human beings engage in." K. Toomey
Communication and swallowing are two of life's most important tasks. For children, proper development of speech and language skills is imperative in ensuring their ability to learn, explore their environment, interact with others, and communicate their wants/needs. Additionally, gaining adequate nutrition directly affects a child's brain development and overall growth.
Whether you have concerns regarding your child's ability to use sounds and words to communicate with others, to be understood when speaking, to understand others, or to successfully swallow a variety of foods, we have experienced pediatric therapists who are ready to address your child's areas of need. Here at Edward, we provide progressive one-on-one care that utilizes the same therapist throughout the length of your child's treatment. We work closely with teachers, school therapists, and caregivers to coordinate sessions that address your child's specific needs. Our treatment rooms are specially designed for children and offer an observation area with headsets and one-way mirrors. Edward treats the following pediatric diagnoses:
- Speech/Language Delays/Disorders
- Articulation/Phonological Disorders
