Contracted/Noncontracted Managed Care Policies

Edward has contracts with many local and national health insurance plans, HMO's and PPO's. To verify whether your health plan is contracted with Edward, please contact your health plan.

Please check with your health plan prior to receiving hospital services to verify policy benefits and requirements. If your health insurance plan is not contracted with Edward, it may result in reduced payments for your services from your health plan and higher out-of-pocket expenses for you.

Health insurance plans have different requirements based on the patient's employer, hospital, physician or product (HMO or PPO). For example, many plans require the patient to obtain approval prior to receiving services in order to receive full insurance benefits.

Edward will submit your hospital bill directly to your health insurance plan if you provided the necessary information. If you provided information about a secondary insurance, that plan will also be billed. Patients are responsible for payment of deductibles, co-insurance, co-payments and any charges not paid by their health insurance plan.

If your hospitalization results from an accident or injury for which a third party is responsible, please provide information about any accident or automobile insurance that may be available to pay for your services.

Your insurance plan may require you to complete a co-ordination of benefits (COB) form or provide other information before making payment. Please respond promptly to these requests. Delays in providing insurance information may result in denial or reduction in benefits.

If your health plan has not made payment within a reasonable period of time (usually 60 days after billing) and has not responded to our attempts to resolve payment matters on your behalf, the balance owed may become your responsibility.
