Women and Stroke

Strokes are more common and more deadly for women than for men.  Join Dr. Hurmina Muqtadar, MD., neurologist at the Edward Neuroscience Institute, to discuss prevention as well as early signs and symptoms of stroke.   Dr. Muqtadar will review the new stroke prevention guidelines specifically for women as recommended by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. Edward Heart Hospital's successful program, Lifestyle Under Construction, helps you lose the waist and lose the risk. This medically-supervised wellness program gives you the tools you need to change the way you think about food and exercise. Each week for 12 weeks you'll get advice from a registered dietitian, exercise physiologist, clinical psychologist and cardiac nurse. With some help from you own medical team you can: improve your blood pressure and glucose levels, lose 5 to 7 percent of your body weight and keep it off, select and prepare foods that are good for your waistline and your heart, and make exercise part of your daily routine.

Offered several times a week, this 6-week program allows you to progress at your own pace while you reduce the risk of chronic conditions, gain better body awareness, improve attitude and confidence, and increase movement and endurance!

Edward Medical Weight Loss Clinic

Tuesdays, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
*New Location: Medical Office Building 2, 120 Spalding Drive, Suite 308, Naperville, IL
This clinic is a weight loss program tailored to each individual and supervised by Dr. Zaid Jabbar, medical director of the Edward Medical Weight Loss Clinic and internal medicine physician with Edward Medical Group. The clinic combines medically-supervised use of FDA approved weight loss medications with additional program options for each patient to achieve maximum results. Each patient will receive a thorough initial consultation and evaluation, which may include a baseline EKG and lab work. Prescription medication is generally used for patients with a BMI (body mass index) of 25 or greater who are between the ages of 18 and 65 years old. Call 630-527-7205 for more information.
