To say we're single-minded would be an understatement. Our team of physicians, specialists and nurses has spent years training for and doing one thing – caring for kids.
Moms and dads notice – Edward is rated the most preferred hospital for pediatrics in the west and southwest suburbs.
State-recognized pediatric care
Edward's team of highly experienced pediatricians, pediatric emergency physicians, family practitioners, nurses and pediatric specialists know first-hand the clinical differences and sensitivities involved with caring for children.
The result is quality of care that's recognized by the State of Illinois:
- Edward is a Pediatric Critical Care Center, one of the first hospitals in Illinois to earn the designation.
- Edward's Emergency Department is recognized as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics (EDAP).
- Edward's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is designated Level III, the highest level possible in Illinois.
In addition, 21 physicians on the Edward Hospital Medical Staff are on the list of Chicago Parent Magazine's "Chicago's Favorite Kids' Docs" (2011) and 13 on the Edward Hospital Medical Staff made the list of Chicagoland's "Top Kids' Docs" according to Chicago Magazine (2010).
Specialists, facilities specifically for kids
Located in Medical Office Building II on the Edward Hospital campus, Edward's Pediatric Specialties Center gives parents convenient access to doctors who focus on the treatment of children in a wide variety of areas, including cardiology, cancer, orthopedics, surgery and many others. Pediatric Specialties Center The Pediatric Specialties Center is also home to the Care Center which diagnoses and treats sexually abused children, a service provided for multiple counties in the west and southwest suburbs, and the Children's Facial Center for treatment of cleft palate and other facial anomalies
Our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) takes care of the tiniest babies just after they're born. Our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) is there for children when they need critical care.
And, our Kids ER is there just for kids' emergencies. We're pretty experienced. We opened in 2000 (the first pediatric ER in DuPage County) and have treated hundreds of thousands of children. We're staffed by doctors and nurses who've been trained to treat children and we have rooms and equipment designed for the sizes, shapes and needs of kids.
Body and Mind They may not eat their vegetables, but we bet they won't want to leave Kids Zone at Edward Health & Fitness Center at Seven Bridges. There's something for every kid between 6 weeks and 15 years old. Teens can also get help from Linden Oaks for all kinds of behavioral health situations, including self-injury, drug use and eating disorders.
