Most professional medical organizations that focus on children's health and well-being recommend breastfeeding for at least the first year of a baby's life. Breast milk provides the best nutrition and protects mother and baby from many illnesses. This recommendation includes feeding a baby only breast milk for the first six months then gradually introducing other infant foods while continuing to breastfeed. If a situation arises that a baby is unable to breastfeed directly, a mother can pump breast milk for her baby.
Our Board Certified Lactation Consultants at the Edward Breastfeeding Center are available to assist you.
